Our Summer Scholarship Program
The purpose of our scholarship incentive program is to encourage Jr. High and High School
students to involve themselves in spiritual practices and disciplines that will nurture their Christian
walk.
The heart of this program is our teens' commitment to participate in this program during the school
year for summer scholarship money. The following is a list of opportunities to earn scholarship
money.
Teens which complete 4 of the options below are eligible for $100 applicable to all summer trips
and camps that Lamar Avenue Church of Christ participates. The most a teen can earn is $100
for his or her Summer. If the teen completes less than 4 then they get $25 for each option they
complete. Should the teen not desire the $100 or not need it they can complete tasks and donate
the money to someone in the youth group who could benefit from it.
The benefit of this program is to give our teens ownership in contributing to their own spiritual
walk. If a teen needs additional scholarship money each situation will be given individual attention.
1) Sunday and Wednesday Class Attendance--Students can have no more than 6 absences for
the school year. This excludes holidays like Christmas or New Years Eve.
2) Participate in 3 pre-approved Service Projects
3) Read completely through the New Testament twice during the school year--Turn in 3x5 card
with parent's signature that you completed this.
4) Read 3 Christian books and write a summary of each book.
5) Memorize Ephesians chapters 1 and 2 and quote by memory.
6) Take sermon notes over 20 sermons.
7) Interview 5 different families of our Young at Heart members.
8) Participate in LTC--Must Participate in at least 2 events.
9) Do 4 Bible Studies from the Student section of the youth website
